What can I expect on my first visit?
When we first schedule a time to meet, I ask that you complete some initial forms. These forms help me to better understand your current difficulties and goals for treatment, and help you understand a bit more about my practice. I also use validated questionnaires to help evaluate treatment progress, so I ask that you complete these at the beginning of our treatment and periodically throughout treatment.
How long do sessions last?
Sessions are generally 50 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged with advanced notice.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. Insurance companies vary in covering service costs by out-of-network providers, though PPO plans will generally cover most of the charges incurred. Please call your insurance provider to ask whether they offer reimbursement for out-of-network mental health service charges. I will provide you with a summary of charges that you may submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement of your payment to me.
What are your fees?
My fees are commensurate with other PhD-level practitioners in the area. Please contact me to discuss specific rates. Payment is collected at the start of session and can be made via cash, check or credit card.
I live far from your office. Do you offer sessions via phone or video?
I recognize that many individuals do not have access to providers in their area who specialize in treatment for sleep disorders (a specialty known as Behavioral Sleep Medicine). Your geographical location should not stop you from receiving care. I offer HIPAA-compliant video sessions in lieu of face-to-face treatment for residents of Northern California.
